The New Jersey Real Estate Commission mandates that all actively licensed Brokers (BR), Broker-Salespersons (BR-SP) and Salespersons (SP) complete 12 Continuing Education (CE) Credits every two years to maintain their licenses.
License renewal is bi-annual with the licensing term beginning on July 1st of odd years (2021, 2023, etc...).
The current 2025 Term began on July 1, 2023 and will end on June 30, 2025.
All CE Credits are required to be completed by
April 30, 2025,
if you complete the requirement after this date a $200.00 late fee will be assessed to your license renewal.
Requirement for Actively Licensed Agents (Salesperson, Broker-Salesperson, Broker)
A total of 12 Continuing Education (CE) Credits
6 of the total 12 CE Credits must be in the Core Topic Area
2 of the 6 Core CE Credits must be in the Ethics Topic Area
1 of the 6 Core CE Credits must be in the Fair Housing Topic Area
1 of the 6 Core CE Credits must be in the Agency Topic Area
* New for 2025 CE Term
The remaining 6 CE Credits can be taken in Core, Ethics, Fair Housing, Agency or Elective Topic Areas
Additional Notes
Any person who completes a NJ Brokers Course is deemed to have fulfilled the CE Requirement for the licensing term in which the Brokers Course was completed
You are exempt from the CE Requirement if you were originally licensed in the second year of the licensing term, after July 1st of even years (2022, 2024, etc...). For example: If you were originally licensed on July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025, you are exempt from the CE Requirement for the 2025 Term
However, if you were originally licensed on July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024, or any date prior, you are not exempt and must complete the CE Requirement for the 2025 Term
